When I came to Marie I was on my knees and desperate. I was in constant pain and struggled to sleep; when I did, I only re-lived the sexual and emotional abuse I had suffered. I became scared to close my eyes and was feeling exhausted and depressed. I even had the occasional thought of ending my life, as I could see no light at the end of the tunnel, with no energy left to fight and nothing to look forward to.
Life..breathing..it all felt like such hard work and I was feeling so negative, useless and helpless about everything. I was crying all day and night and eating crap food, if I could actually be bothered to eat at all.

At the start of the first session I was so scared and skeptical, but Marie was so supportive. She explained what EFT was and the releasing my body would experience throughout the session. She even managed to release my back pain in that first session, much to my amazement. How could tapping on various points around my face and chest have made me pain free when months of physio hadn’t?! As that first session ended, I felt exhausted but without a doubt, I was calmer, more confident and lighter. I knew then that I could be a survivor and not a victim of abuse, and that this was going to work.
Our EFT sessions were, and are uplifting and life changing for me. Not only did I let go of so much, but Marie always has me laughing a lot too. I am able to be honest, open and hold nothing back, as I feel completely safe with her. I looked forward to our sessions; something I can’t say for the bereavement and depression counselling I’ve received in the past which never worked for me. With my body holding onto sexual and emotional abuse for 30+ years, there has been a lot to let go of, and the process hasn’t been easy. But Marie has always guided me as as far as I have been able to cope with each session, and checked in on me regularly between sessions. I have never once felt alone.

Marie’s approach is to treat the whole person. She started by addressing my priority needs and then working on individual issues, one step at a time, until I reached a state of overall well-being. I had booked EFT sessions with her, but also benefited from her experience as a counsellor and coach. These skills helped Marie to articulate what I was actually feeling, even when I couldn’t verbally express my pain. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for nearly 2 years now and in the last 6 months, we have gone through 3 IUI’s, a miscarriage, and 2 IVFs. This 2nd IVF was our last attempt and I had tried many other things in addition to the treatment with no success; from acupuncture, herbs and diet changes, to guided visualisation. So, when Marie offered to help us with EFT sessions, I was definitely open to it.
